Educational Programs

  • Live Line High Voltage Demonstration
    • This is a safety program designed to educate both youth and adults about the dangers of electricity if not handled properly. The program can easily be adapted to large and small groups. It has become extremely popular for school safety field trips. Click here to view.
  • Youth to Washington Tour
    • This program allows three high school students living in a home served by Tri-County to win a week-long, expenses paid trip to the U.S. Capitol. Call the cooperative for details.
  • Scholarships
    • IEC Memorial
      • Statewide, seven $1,250 scholarships are given annually through the Illinois Electric Cooperative Memorial Scholarship fund. Five of the scholarships may be used at any two or four-year accredited college or university in the United States, including vocational/technical schools. Four of these scholarships are awarded to a son or daughter of an Illinois electric cooperative member. One scholarship is awarded to a son or daughter of an Illinois electric cooperative employee or director. The remaining two scholarships are reserved for use at an Illinois community college. Children of both Illinois electric cooperative employees and directors are eligible. The application deadline is January 1 each year.
    • Rend Lake College
      • Tri-County awards a tuition scholarship annually to a son or daughter of a Tri-County member. Applications are available from high school counselors or at Rend Lake College. Deadline for application is generally around January 31st.
    • Kaskaskia College
      • Tri-County awards a $500 scholarship annually to a son or daughter of a Tri-County member. Applications are available from high school counselors or at Kaskaskia College. Deadline for application is generally around January 31st.
